We’re pleased to announce the release of HD Widgets 2.0.
HD Widgets 2.0 is a universal app for Android phones and Honeycomb tablets, and is the first to offer 7″ tablet size widgets (6×2, 6×1, 3×5).
Existing users may update for free on all of their Android devices.
The app’s UI provides an early taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, particularly in the tab & page navigation. In fact, swipe is fundamental to the core experience: almost all navigation and customization is done via left/right swipe gestures.
As a widget app, HD Widgets 2.0 was made to be as lightweight and flexible as possible. The app uses 4 unique apks based on screen size & resolution. Each version supplies only the images necessary for that particular device, thus reducing storage space while providing pixel-perfect resolution.
This latest release is totally reorganized and built for future expansion. The old Preview activity has been replaced with two new activities: Active Widgets for finding and customizing existing widgets and Themes to preview each theme’s collection. Quick Tips have been replaced with a User Guide to help new Android users who are unfamiliar with widgets. Finally, all HD Widgets are now organized by size groups (1×1, 2×1, etc) making it easy to locate them at the start of your widget menu.
We didn’t expect to do a giant huge update – we only wanted to get it ported to phones. But soon into development we realized this was going to be a brand new app (4 actually) under the hood. Existing 10″ tablet users will notice only a few changes: widgets are thicker and there’s a few new ones. But the phone app and 7″ tablet layouts are entirely new.
This also took much longer than we had planned. We can finally return to focus on Cloudskipper for the next few months. We’ll work on bug fixes but we’re not planning to add any major features to HD Widgets until after Cloudskipper 2.0 is released. Still, we may toss in one or two new themes, just to keep things interesting or if we get wrestless.
Thanks to everyone who helped out with testing and support, and additional thanks to everyone who bought the app – you make it easy for us to keep this up.
For everyone else – support the cause! Get off the fence and go download HD Widgets now =)

[...] HD Widgets 2.0 launch is going great and we’re already getting lots of press. Time for a round [...]
Hi guys, what i see is impressing me. But, i am here now by a friend who has now this wonderfull app running on a SGT10.1 3G. The issue is that we have installed this now two times with vereytime a clean un-install and reboot. But the widgets for the tab does not appear in the widget list. What’s going wrong here? You have written on adroid market restart the tab and app, but nothing helps. Before i will purchaise this i must be shure that this is running well on my 10.1 and 7 inch tab from samsung.
We changed the ids for the widgets. Instead of being listed alphabetically under “HD”, they’re now at the top of the list, based on size: 1×1, 2×1, and so on.
Thanks radley for your fast response. Jesus that’s really fast when i take a look to others. And yes i have helped him out and i have seen the widgets in the top of the list, better left of the list on a 10 inch tab. But there are only the 1×1, 2×1 3×1 and the 4×3 i think. Not the one for the tab shown on the market. If there any screenshot where i can see the others? But i will check it again and will report later on that. Thanks in advise!
hrm.. not sure. On your tablet you should see 1×1, 2×1, 3×5, 4×1, 4×2, 4×4, 4×7, 6×1, 6×2, 8×1, & 8×2 — all in that order.
You may want to uninstall and download again from the Market. It may have accidentally sent you one of the phone apks. Although HD Widgets is one app, we use 3 different apks (to conserve space and optimize graphics).
i use it on my asus transformer and it looks very well.
one question, how can I change the switches I want to use?
for example I don,t use screen rotate lock.
regards Henk.
We’ll be adding new switches very soon.
thanks radly, will look forward to the update.
Hey I’m trying to buy this app, but it says i purchased it. when i go to download its says i haven’t purchased the app. need some help
Give the Market a little time to reset. It’s prone to make errors.
another question from me.
make it possible to choose more then one location for the weather.
also named multiple location, like fancy widget does.
Hi!
I’ve got a problem with HD Widgets on my Lenovo Ideapad A1.
I’m missing the “tablet” sizes (6x,8x).
After deinstalling I cannot find the App in the market??? When I use the webbrowser it says that this device is not compatible?
I’ve to say that my first Lenovo was faulty and I got another one from Amazon. I bought the app with the first one which was send back to Amazon. I cannot delete the device from my market account but the really amazing is that this device is marked as compatible to the app? Strange, isn’t it?
I changed the DPI of my device from default 240dpi to 200 and 160. No change…
Is there any chance to get the widgets working with tablet modes?
Thanks in advance,
Michael
I think the problem is your tablet is Gingerbread and our app requires Honeycomb & later. We’re working on backwards-compatibility but it will take a little while.
Same problem here
no 6X or 8X widgets on my samsung galaxy tab 10.1 ( running android 3.2 )
can you please advise me
Using HD Widgets on both my Asus Tablet and now my Galaxy Nexus…
One question…regarding “themes” are themes available somewhere to download or are these just previous clock/color/background combinations that we’ve used previously?
We’ll be adding new themes shortly.
thnx =)
